Why it matters

A new windshield moves the camera.

Modern vehicles often use Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as lane-departure warning and forward-collision alert. These safety features rely on a camera near the windshield, which may need recalibration when the windshield is replaced.

Calibration helps align the camera with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications — so the systems see the road the way they were designed to.

Lane-departure warning

Keeps you from drifting out of your lane unnoticed.

Forward-collision alert

Warns you — and can act — when something closes too fast.

Camera-based driver aids

Most of these systems share one camera mounted at the windshield.

Static, dynamic — or both

Your vehicle decides the procedure.

We confirm what your year, make, and model requires before we come out, so nothing is guessed at on your driveway.

Static procedure

Performed in place with a vehicle-specific target set in front of the car and measured with lasers, then calibrated through the diagnostic port.

Dynamic procedure

For dynamic recalibration, the vehicle is driven at approximately 40 mph. The camera reads the road markings to recalibrate the vehicle to OEM specifications.

Both

Depending on your vehicle, calibration may require a static procedure, a dynamic procedure, or both. Some Subaru, Honda, and Acura models, for example, may require both types of ADAS recalibration.

Straight from the manual

Every static setup starts from your vehicle's own numbers. Target distance, height off the ground, and panel spacing are all specified by the manufacturer — that's what we measure to, not what looks about right.

Ask us and we'll walk you through the procedure for your year, make, and model before we arrive.

How a static calibration works

Measured, not eyeballed.

We position a vehicle-specific target in front of your vehicle and use laser measurements to set the correct distance and height — then calibrate through the diagnostic port.

01

Target in position

We position a vehicle-specific target in front of your vehicle.

02

Laser measurements

Laser measurements set the correct distance and height for that target.

03

Diagnostic connection

We connect diagnostic equipment to the vehicle's onboard port.

04

Calibrate to spec

The camera is calibrated according to manufacturer specifications.

Dynamic calibration

For dynamic recalibration, the vehicle is driven at approximately 40 mph. The camera reads the road markings to recalibrate the vehicle to OEM specifications.

Vehicles we calibrate

Many makes and models.

Depending on your vehicle, windshield camera calibration may require a static procedure, a dynamic procedure, or both. Some Subaru, Honda, and Acura models, for example, may require both types of ADAS recalibration.

Give us your year, make, and model and we'll tell you which procedure your vehicle calls for — and whether your windshield replacement can be handled at the same visit.

What we need from you
  • Year, make, and model of the vehicle
  • Whether the windshield has been replaced or is being replaced
  • Any warning lights on the dash for lane or collision systems
  • A level spot with room to set a target in front of the vehicle
